Homes in Kesklinn: what matters for furniture assembly

Kesklinn contains a wide range of housing. Historic low-rise homes, early-20th-century wooden and masonry apartment buildings, pre-war homes, Soviet-era buildings and modern apartments all form part of the district. Furniture assembly in the centre can therefore mean fitting one wardrobe in an older house or furnishing a new apartment throughout.

Older housing. Kadriorg retains early-20th-century wooden homes and masonry buildings from the 1930s. Raua also includes several periods, from houses built early in the last century to pre-war apartment buildings. Kitseküla has historic low-rise housing. These homes can differ in ceiling height, room dimensions, recesses and access routes. Renovations often alter original layouts and finishes, so we work from the apartment's current condition.

Mid- and later-20th-century buildings. The centre also has apartment buildings from the 1950s and 1960s, including on A. Lauteri and Gonsiori streets. In these homes, new furniture often replaces existing items: a bedroom wardrobe, a kitchen fitted around existing connections, or a dresser or desk for a room already in use. Clear the work area beforehand and check measurements again once old furniture has been removed.

Modern homes. Maakri includes high-rise apartment buildings. Newer homes are also found in Raua, with buildings from the 2020s on Tuukri street and Pärnu maantee. When moving in, planning several rooms together can help: decide where a large wardrobe can be assembled, where the bed and desk will stand, and how to distribute the packages. A new building still needs measuring: furniture must fit the actual room, finished surfaces and door positions.

Kadriorg, Raua, Maakri and Kitseküla show how varied housing can be within Kesklinn. A neighbourhood name or construction period does not establish every installation condition, but it helps identify what to clarify before the visit.

Homes in the centre sit alongside offices. When booking, explain whether the furniture is for an apartment, a home office, a private office or a shared workspace.

What to consider when assembling furniture in older and newer homes

Floors, walls and the installation position. In an older home, particularly one without a major renovation for some time, check floor levels, walls and corners carefully. A deviation may be hard to notice in an empty room but leave a gap or misalignment beside a tall wardrobe or kitchen run. We position the carcass stably and level it, then check doors and drawers. Building age alone does not mean every apartment has these problems.

Tall wardrobes and recesses. Older homes may have unusual room dimensions and projections, while renovations can change skirting boards and ceilings. Measure a recess's width and height at several points. We separately check space for assembly and for raising the carcass as instructed. Hinged doors should leave a clear route, and sliding wardrobe doors need to move freely along their tracks.

Wall fixing. Kadriorg has wooden homes, such as J. Köleri tn 10, and masonry buildings, including L. Koidula tn 22. The building material does not describe every internal partition. For a wall cabinet, shelving or tall dresser, the construction at the fixing position matters. Tell us beforehand if a wall has been covered, moved or reinforced during renovation, and show any information you have about it.

Furniture in a new home. Newer buildings, such as R. Tobiase tn 11 or Tuukri tn 25, also need final measurements after finishing work. We check skirting boards, sockets, radiators and nearby door movement. During moving-in, we first clear space for large items and agree the room sequence so an assembled wardrobe will not need moving for another job.

Kitchens and integrated appliances. We need the module plan, finished room measurements and positions of water, ventilation and electrical points. Worktops, cut-outs, wall cabinets and appliance fitting are discussed separately. Connections are agreed according to the order. Send the model, measurements and a photo of the space to clarify the work in advance.

Office furniture assembly in Kesklinn

Kesklinn also includes the city's business centre. Maakri has the Maakri Kvartal complex, while Rotermann combines offices with apartments and commercial premises. We assemble furniture for private offices, meeting rooms and shared work areas, as well as home offices in apartments.

You can book assembly of desks, meeting tables, computer and office chairs, drawer pedestals, document cupboards and shelving. If desk screens or cable trays are supplied, we account for their components and installation instructions. Work and prices by furniture type are described on our office furniture assembly page.

For several workstations, a layout plan helps show the desk count, cupboard positions and routes that need to stay clear. In an occupied office, we agree the time and order of work beforehand to maintain access to essential work areas. For a business centre, we clarify access passes, the responsible contact and lift-use arrangements.

For an office move, reassembly of used furniture is discussed separately. Show its condition and the fixings you have retained. Send the models, quantities and additional tasks with your quote enquiry.

Access and carrying furniture upstairs

Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and any difficult points along the route: a narrow door, stair turn or long passage. If you need help bringing boxes or heavy components upstairs, state where they are currently stored. Carrying requirements, the number of assemblers and the price are agreed in advance.

For an enclosed courtyard or business centre, clarify the entrance, tool unloading arrangements and any pass requirements. We account for building restrictions on working hours when agreeing a visit time.

What to send for a Kesklinn assembly quote

A few details are enough for an initial quote:

  • Product links or box photos showing model names and quantities.
  • The address, floor and lift information. List carrying or bringing items upstairs separately.
  • A photo of the installation area. Measurements and a plan help for a wardrobe recess or kitchen.
  • Additional tasks, such as dismantling old furniture, completing partial assembly or adjusting an existing wardrobe.

For an office, add the number of workstations, a layout plan if available and suitable access times. For an apartment, mention whether finishing work is complete and the furniture is in the correct rooms.

We use this to agree the scope, price and timing. Prices by furniture type are shown in the cards above. Send an enquiry or call the number at the top of the page to discuss the job.
