Furniture assembly in Peetri, Harju County

Peetri has changed considerably in recent decades. The historic settlement of individual houses has gradually become a large suburban residential area. It retains homes from the second half of the 20th century, apartment buildings from the 1970s and numerous developments built from the 2000s to the early 2020s.

Older Peetri. Many homes in the historic centre date from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Apartment buildings associated with the Mõigu KEK construction company also appeared near Tartu maantee at that time. Apartments may have been altered over the years, so we assess the current layout, doorways and utility positions before installing furniture.

Apartment buildings from recent decades. Newer neighbourhoods are found on Aruheina tee, Pihlaka tee, Kuldala tee and Kopli tee. For example, Aruheina tee 9 and 13 were built in 2015, Pihlaka tee 1 and 5 in 2017, Kopli tee 10 in 2018 and Kopli tee 26 in 2022. Moving here often means assembling several large furniture items at once.

Low-rise housing and detached homes. Kuldala has neighbourhoods of two- to four-storey apartment buildings. Different types of low-rise housing are found around Roosaare tee, while Järvemetsa and Suurekivi consist mainly of detached houses. For assembly, it is particularly important to clarify the floor, stairs and intended room beforehand.

These examples give an overview of Peetri's housing. Rooms and partitions can differ even between neighbouring buildings, so final measurements are best checked on site.

When moving into a new apartment, it is convenient to book a hallway wardrobe, bed, dresser, dining table and children's furniture for one visit. If boxes have arrived, distribute them between rooms beforehand to avoid carrying assembled carcasses through the apartment.

Wardrobes and storage systems. For a tall wardrobe, we check ceiling height, wall width and space for the doors to open. If the carcass is assembled horizontally, establish beforehand whether the ceiling allows it to be raised afterwards. Sliding-door wardrobes also require attention to track positions and door adjustment.

Beds and dressers. A lift-up bed or bed with drawers needs space for assembly and for using the mechanisms afterwards. Where necessary, tall dressers and shelving are secured against tipping according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Furniture after renovation. In new buildings on Aruheina, Pihlaka and other Peetri streets, check the final room dimensions before installation. Finished skirting boards, sockets, radiators and internal door movement can affect where a wardrobe or table fits.

In a detached or terraced home, furniture is often assembled on different floors. The kitchen and dining table may be downstairs, with beds, wardrobes and desks in bedrooms upstairs.

Stairs and large components. Long wardrobe side panels, worktops and tall fronts must fit through doorways and around stair turns. If packages are downstairs but assembly is upstairs, tell us beforehand. Carrying heavy components upstairs is discussed separately.

Unusual spaces. A home may have recesses, exposed beams, sloping ceilings or space under stairs that you want to use for storage. Measure the width and height of a wardrobe recess at several points. When choosing furniture, account for the space needed to assemble it as well as its external dimensions.

Wall fixings. Securing shelves, wall cabinets or tall furniture requires consideration of the actual wall material at the fixing point. This cannot reliably be established from construction year or exterior appearance alone. Partitions may have changed during renovation or alterations.

We assemble modular kitchens, fit carcasses, fronts and drawers, and adjust fittings. Book a small straight kitchen or a set with several runs of cabinets.

For a quote, we need the kitchen plan, finished room dimensions and module list. The positions of water connections, sockets, ventilation and integrated appliances should be known beforehand. Worktop fitting, cut-outs, wall cabinets and additional tasks are discussed before the visit. Appliance and utility connections are agreed separately according to the order.

When replacing an old kitchen, measure after removing the previous cabinets. In a new home, wait until finishing work is complete: tiles and skirting boards also take up space.

For children's rooms, we assemble beds, wardrobes, desks, dressers and shelving. We account for clear routes, drawer and door opening, and window and socket positions. In bedrooms, we fit beds with storage mechanisms, wardrobes, bedside units and dressers. A large wardrobe is easier to assemble before the remaining furniture is arranged.

For home offices, we assemble desks, office chairs, drawer units and document cupboards. If a desk has electric height adjustment, cable trays or additional components, send the exact model beforehand where possible. We also assemble office furniture in small workspaces; a layout plan helps for several workstations.

Peetri has apartment complexes with shared entrances and homes with individual entrances. For an apartment building, tell us the floor, lift availability and whether a brief unloading stop is possible. Specify the correct entrance if it is from the courtyard or the complex has several buildings.

For a detached or terraced home, we need to know the entrance, assembly floor and whether boxes are in the correct rooms. Any carrying upstairs, moving packages from a vehicle or dismantling old furniture is included in the advance discussion. Additional work and its cost are agreed beforehand.

For an initial estimate, prepare:

• Furniture links or box photos showing model names.
• Quantities and a list of rooms where assembly is needed.
• The Peetri address, floor and lift or stair information.
• Installation-space photos, especially for a kitchen or large wardrobe.
• Additional tasks: dismantling old furniture, wall fixing, carrying packages or adjusting previously assembled furniture.
